Africa’s Conservation Areas Deserve a Bold Tourism Transformation.

We are a coalition of sustainable and regenerative tourism partners transforming underfunded African protected areas for resilience and thriving landscapes for nature, communities, and tourism.

Over 70% or roughly 6000 of Africa’s 6,000 conservation areas are struggling.

They need at least $1,000/km² in tourism revenue annually and tourism
models that can  deliver meaningful and lasting benefits for communities, wildlife, visitors and businesses. This is currently not happening

The Safari Defenders Initiative is changing this.

Mission

A powerful coalition of tourism partners driving USD $1,000 per square kilometer per year in tourism revenue into conservation areas across Africa while enhancing the social, economic and ecological value of these spaces.
